Albania to host the 30th edition of the World Law Congress in 2027

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, has announced that the country will host the World Law Congress in 2027, coinciding with the 30th edition of this congress. Rama acknowledged that this congress deserves the greatest of efforts and is a very strong sign of confidence in a country with a difficult past against which we have to fight: “we will do everything to be a great host with the commitment to be hospitable”. And he stressed that the celebration of the World Law Congress in Albania “makes us feel part of a family of democratic countries”. In this line, he pointed out that all attendees will be received in a safe environment.

He was joined by Holta Zaçaj, president of the Constitutional Court of Albania, who pointed out that “hosting the World Law Congress shows the commitment of Albania, its government and its institutions to upholding the rule of law”.

Javier Cremades, president of the World Jurist Association, responsible for the organization of the World Law Congress, accompanied the representatives of the host country for 2027, who was also accompanied by Viviane Reding, vice-president of the World Law Foundation.

In this framework, leaders of the main religions will discuss different areas of interest.

The closing ceremony will be marked by the presentation of the World Peace & Liberty Award 2025 to Sonia Sotomayor, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. This recognition has previously been awarded to Sir Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela, René Cassin, Felipe VI, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Colombian society in the hands of its then president Iván Duque, U.S. civil rights leader Andrew Young and the European Commission represented by its president Ursula von der Leyen.
